...FROM BUDAPEST

How to get from Budapest Airport to Sopron (while Keleti station is closed):

  • Your first option is to take the taxi from the airport to Kelenföld vasútállomás.
  • The second option is to take the 100E airport bus to Kálvin tér M. From there, transfer to Metro line 4 (green line) in the direction of Kelenföld vasútállomás (Kelenföld train station – this is the last stop of the line). Once you exit the metro at Kelenföld, you will be directly at the train station. From here, you can board your train to Sopron.
  • Taking a taxi from the airport to Kelenföld pályaudvar costs around 12 000HUF. Using public transport is much cheaper: the airport bus costs 2 200HUF, and one metro ticket costs 500HUF.

One way to get to the main train station – called Wien Hauptbahnhof – from the airport is that you take a train to the main station. The other option is taking the city railway S7 at the airport. It leaves at the 18th and 48th minutes of every hour. Travel until the 7th stop called Rennweg. You have 5 minutes to change the platform and to take the city railway S3. Travel until the stop Wien Hauptbahnhof, then change the train with the destination of Deutschkreuz. Sopron is the 10th stop. At Sopron train station, equally there are taxis which can take you to the dormitory called “VUK” (Address: 9400 Sopron, Baross utca 4-6.) or you can get there on foot (takes around 15-20 minutes). If you choose a taxi to take you to the dormitory then you should change around 20 Euros into Forint (Hungarian currency). You can find a currency exchange office near the Sopron train station called “Limit Change Pénzváltó”. Depending on your day of arrival, the mentors can even meet you at the Sopron train station if it is necessary.


...FROM BRATISLAVA
