We were happy to invite our international students, their mentors and Hungarian students to our traditional Spring Semester Welcome Day – Intercultural Event organized for greeting our new International students, for sharing information on Hungarian carnival traditions, and for learning about different cultures and countries our students come from. It was an exciting event with presentations, surprise performances, snacks, and chats!

Read here a summary from a Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship holder:
"Welcome events are some of the most memorable moments for new and continuing students, as well as the staff at the University of Sopron. These events are filled with fun, food, music, knowledge sharing, experiences, gifts, and highlights about the various countries participants come from, including our host nation, Hungary. Though it can seem academic at times, it showcases the cultural diversity among us, enriching our knowledge.
For example, today one of us presented on Santa Lucia, a country many of us hadn't heard of, revealing many unique aspects of its culture and some similarities with our own. It's fascinating to realize that despite our diverse backgrounds, we share common elements like food, carnival events, and music festivals.
During the social hour, sharing bites creates bonding moments, allowing us to share what it's like to be a student at the University of Sopron with new students and our counterparts. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the organizers for creating lasting memories through these interactions."
