Cuban Rectors' Delegation Visits University of Sopron to Explore Future Collaborations

The University of Sopron recently hosted a distinguished delegation from Cuba, marking a significant step forward in fostering international academic partnerships. The visit brought together prominent university leaders from Cuba and Hungary, strengthening ties and exploring new avenues for cooperation.

  • Narcy Bueno Figueras, Rector of the University of Granma (UDG)
  • Edelvy Bravo Amarante, Rector of Sancti Spiritus University (UNISS)
  • Anthius Hernández Gómez, Rector of the Agrarian University of Havana (UNAH)
  • Yorki Mayor Hernández, Rector of the University of Pinar del Río (UPR)

Representing the University of Sopron were distinguished officials and faculty members dedicated to advancing international collaboration:

  • Faculty representatives: Dr. Judit Pappné Vancsó (Vice Dean for International Relations, Alexandre Lámfalussy Faculty of Economics), Dr. Réka Kissné Zsámboki (Vice Dean for International Relations, Benedek Elek Faculty of Pedagogy), Dr. Tamás Rétfalvi (Institute Director, Institute of Environment and Nature Conservation), Dr. László Németh (Director of the Institute at the Faculty of Wood Engineering and Creative Industries), Prof. Dr. Balázs Kósa (Vice Dean for Education, Faculty of Wood Engineering and Creative Industries), and Ms. Zita Szabadhegyi (Communications Officer, Benedek Elek Faculty of Pedagogy).

The primary purpose of this visit was to introduce the participating universities to each other, explore shared interests, and identify potential collaboration opportunities. It is noteworthy that previous Collaboration Agreements had already been signed, providing a solid foundation for further partnerships.

Discussions encompassed various aspects of cooperation, including academic exchanges, joint research projects, and capacity-building initiatives. Both sides expressed strong interest in expanding their academic ties and leveraging their respective strengths to benefit students and staff alike.

This visit exemplifies the commitment of both the University of Sopron and the Cuban universities to deepen international cooperation, fostering a global academic community rooted in mutual understanding and shared educational goals.
