On September 26, the Sudanese ambassador of the National Association of PhD Students (DOSZ) at the University of Sopron, Ahmed Abdalrahman, in collaboration with the university’s International Office, hosted a special well-being event for Sudanese PhD students currently studying at Hungarian universities.
The event brought together over 30 registered participants from institutions including ELTE, Semmelweis University, University of Debrecen, University of Pécs, University of Szeged, University of Miskolc, BME, MATE, and, of course, the University of Sopron.
As part of the well-being program, students participated in small-group sessions led by the international student psychologist and the coordinator for student well-being. These sessions reflected on the emotional journey of arriving in a new country, adapting to life in Hungary, and building resilience. Topics included coping strategies, the power of a supportive community, and opportunities for future academic and professional development.

The event concluded with a heartfelt certificate ceremony, where newly graduated PhD students were honored with recognition diplomas and symbolic gifts—a meaningful gesture celebrating their hard work and achievements.
More than just a meeting, this gathering was a reminder that community, support, and shared experiences make the PhD journey not only bearable, but deeply rewarding.
