International Peer Support in Action: Sharing, Reusing and Caring

In the spirit of our Green University values, the International Peer Support Group organised a donation event at the beginning of September. Last year's graduating students generously donated items they no longer needed, giving incoming first-year students the opportunity to find something useful for their new life in Sopron.

The international peer supporters collected and organised the donations, turning them into a welcoming little selection of everyday essentials. New students could choose what they needed, including kitchenware, cooking utensils, bed linen, hairdryers, drying racks, winter clothes, coats and boots.

For many students arriving from warmer countries, the winter coats were a real surprise. Some looked at them with disbelief, wondering whether they would ever need such a thing. Our peer supporters were happy to reassure them that winter in Sopron would arrive sooner than they might think!

This initiative was a simple but meaningful way to encourage reuse and support our international student community. It also showed how small acts of generosity can make a big difference when we work together.

A big thank you to all the graduating students who donated their belongings, and to our international peer supporters for making this action happen. By sharing what we have, we can make the beginning of university life a little easier, warmer and more sustainable for everyone.
